I’ve been an apprentice with Octavia Foundation for a few months now and I’m really enjoying it; I started in November 2013 and everyone made me feel at home straight away! I would say that I’m quite a shy person and when I started I didn’t have much confidence, but working in the Foundation team has built my confidence and let me come out of my shell a bit more.
In my role of Volunteer Administrator, I sort applications and chase references for those who volunteer in our charity shops or those who wish to become befrienders; this is great because I get to meet people of all ages and see what its like ‘behind the scenes’ of the charity shops.
During this apprenticeship I am studying a NVQ2 in Business Administration which is building my knowledge of computer software and databases. I’m extremely pleased I got this apprenticeship as it is helping me decide what I aspire to be.
