Want to help shape your community? Become part of Base' Youth Council

We ran our first term of our Youth Voices Youth Council Programme in 2025, where 10 young people helped shape our programme across a number of areas from the type of work we do, equipment for our projects, the food we serve at sessions, trips and holiday programmes and more. Additionally they developed their CV and got a chance to work with our governance team to learn more about what goes in to being a trustee and how to shape and run an organisation. We will be running an election campaign in January & February 2026, in order for our young people to select their representatives for 2026 (Contact Conor below for more info)

As part of this project we work with young people aged 10-25 (up to 27 with additional needs), supporting the evaluation of our youth programme - Base@the Reed from the top down. This will range from deciding the structure of our sessions to choosing the how we can support more young people to affect change within the project and our organisation as a whole. We will meet monthly in 2026 once the new panel has been elected.

As part of the programme, you will also get the opportunity to work with our governance team to learn more about what goes in to being a trustee and develop your CV and experience for future careers.
