University of Manchester review Foundation's impact

Wednesday 21 September 2011

Earlier this year, the Octavia Foundation commissioned the University of Manchester to conduct research that would assess our progress so far and to better understand the effectiveness of our models of working.

Researchers from the Institute for Political and Econonmic Governance spoke with a huge number of people and organisations that have been involved with, supportive of or affected by our work as part of this process to best understand the impact of the Octavia Foundation between 2006 - 2011.

The findings were positive and encouraging, with clear recommendations and considerations for the future.  Most significantly, the research identified the Foundation's particular model of working and the importance of empowerment and long term relationships to all of our successful projects and activities.

It is fantastic to learn that our model of working is appreciated by our partners, beneficiaries and participants.  The potential for our work to deliver real life enhancement to participants is emphasised throughout the report's findings and this is a huge motivation for me.

I know that the Octavia Foundation can (and does) play a crucial role in the development of an individual's confidence, positivity and potential across a huge number of practical, emotional and social levels.
