Older and vulnerable people

Have you ever been stuck at home, unable to go out, with no-one to talk to? Imagine what that must be like for days, weeks or even months, with no end in sight. In the boroughs we work in, around 50% of older people live alone. And recent research shows that one pensioner in four is unable to take part in social activities for reasons connected with poverty, health or isolation.

Befriending

We provide a befriending service that offers vital emotional support to those who are isolated. Each individual is carefully matched with a volunteer befriender who visits every week for at least six months. Find out more.

Events and outings

The joy and stimulation of meeting others, as well as the chance to do something different from sitting at home, can provide a huge boost to many isolated and older people. We organise a wide range of social and cultural events throughout the year. Find out more..
