Success Stories:
Nathan O’Brien
Nathan is a trained carpenter & joiner to NVQ Level III but did not have a CSC card permitting him to work. He approached the Gateways to Work project for help back into employment. We located an available exam, paid for the test and card, and Nathan passed with flying colours! When Nathan received his CSC card we found him a trial position with one of our contracted repairs companies, DW Contractors, and he has been working there ever since.
Mark Haynes
Mark is an Octavia tenant who had just left school and was keen to get into carpentry. Through the Foundation he got a paid apprenticeship with United House, one of our main contractors, and the Foundation has committed to paying his college fees for the Carpentry & Joinery NVQ.
Jacqueline Quissanva
Jacqueline is an Octavia tenant from Angola who wanted to improve her English. She spotted an ad for the Foundation in our Newsletter and contacted us. We located an entry level exam, paid for the test, and Jacqueline is now studying ESOL classes at Kingsway College, Regents Park. Jacqueline says that her confidence has improved greatly and she is keen to apply for jobs.
