Student volunteer week 2012
Sunday, 19 February 2012
February 20-26 is Student Volunteers Week 2012.
Volunteering England report that 63% of students take part in some kind of formal volunteering work whilst studying at university or college. Volunteering with Octavia Foundationpresents a fantastic opportunity to gain new skills and experiences and to enhance your CV and employment prospects whilst meeting new people from a diverse range of backgrounds at any point in your life, but volunteering as a student can bring particular benefits and rewards.
95% of student volunteers are driven to do so by their desire to help other people, but Volunteering England also reports that volunteering as a student can:
- enhance employability
- help you to apply your learning in new contexts
- develop skills that employers value
- build your confidence and self-esteem
- provide opportunities to meet new people and make new friends
We'll be sharing the experiences of some of our fantastic student volunteers throughout student volunteering week and will publish a new case study each day on twitter (@Octavia_Fdn) and here on our website.
